Rosencrantz Laundry Basket

A little 18-page board book written by Sarah Kott-Tannenbaum, with illustrations by me!

Painted digitally, I tried to mimic the look of cut paper for the cats, since they all had lovely, crisp colors; in contrast, I introduced vibrant yet subtle textures elsewhere to bring richness to the simple scenes.

What Is Momo Up To?

When wildfire smoke kept us indoors one week in 2022, I painted a collection of quick watercolors featuring my pup. The first one ended up being the cover of this book -

I was driving home after kayaking with Mo one evening, and I looked back to see her face bathed in the most exquisite dusk light. Her eyes were closed, her nose twitched in the breeze, the fields and mountains were golden outside the window, and I thought it was the most beautiful thing I’d seen in a long time. I wanted to capture the essence of that memory. Later that year, I wrote text to accompany the paintings, and turned them into a little illustrated book.

Printed in early Spring, 2023. Text is represented in English, Mandarin with zhuyin, and pinyin.
